Privacy policy

Your dating profile can say a great deal about you. This policy explains what slavic.love collects, why we need it, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to the slavic.love website, account services, messaging, moderation, and related support.

Effective date: 29 September 2026

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account details: email address, display name, date of birth, password hash, account type, and optional phone number.
  • Profile details: gender, city and country, cultural background, languages, biography, occupation, education, height, interests, lifestyle, religion, children and family plans, relationship goals, and travel or relocation preferences.
  • Discovery preferences: preferred age range, genders, countries, relationship goals, and openness to relocation.
  • Content and interactions: photos, likes, passes, matches, messages, blocks, reports, notification preferences, and support communications.
  • Verification information: verification status and, when a provider is enabled, the information needed for email, phone, photo, or identity review.

Some profile fields may reveal or allow inferences about sensitive matters such as ethnic or cultural origin, religion, sexuality, or relationship preferences. You choose whether to provide optional fields. Do not include highly sensitive information in your profile or messages unless you are comfortable sharing it in that context.

Information collected automatically

We collect session identifiers, IP address, browser user-agent, login/session timestamps, security and rate-limit events, request IDs, and operational audit records. We use one essential, HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in and protect your account. We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioural analytics.

Information from others

We may receive information about you in another member's report or support request, from payment processor Stripe about subscription status, or from a verification provider if one is enabled. Stripe processes payment-card details on its hosted pages; slavic.love stores customer, subscription, price, status, and billing-period identifiers, not full card numbers.

2. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and secure accounts, verify eligibility, and maintain sessions;
  • publish the profile you choose to make visible and provide discovery;
  • calculate compatibility from profile and preference information;
  • process likes, passes, mutual matches, messages, and notifications;
  • process photos, remove embedded metadata, create display sizes, and moderate content;
  • operate subscriptions and reconcile Stripe webhook events;
  • detect abuse, investigate reports, enforce rules, and keep an audit history;
  • send account, safety, match, message, and billing communications according to available preferences;
  • diagnose failures, protect the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes; and
  • improve reliability and product functionality using aggregated operational information.

Depending on where you live, we rely on performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable service, and compliance with legal obligations. Where consent is required for sensitive information, you may withdraw it by removing the information or contacting us. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.

3. What other members can see

When your profile is visible and approved, eligible members may see your display name, age, profile details, approved photos, location at city/country level, interests, intentions, and compatibility result. Your email address, password, full date of birth, session information, reports, blocks, internal notes, and payment identifiers are not shown as profile information.

Matches can see messages you send them. A person may save or share information they can view, despite our rules. Use the visibility control to remove your profile from discovery and avoid posting contact, financial, identity-document, or precise-location details publicly.

4. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We may disclose it:

  • to other members as described above;
  • to infrastructure, storage, email, verification, fraud-prevention, support, and payment providers that help operate the service;
  • to authorised staff and contractors who need access for support, moderation, security, or administration;
  • when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request;
  • when reasonably necessary to prevent serious harm, investigate fraud or abuse, protect rights and safety, or enforce our Terms;
  • as part of a proposed or completed merger, financing, reorganisation, or sale, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice; or
  • with your direction or consent.

Reports are confidential within the service: we do not tell a reported member who submitted a report, although legal process may sometimes require disclosure.

5. International handling

slavic.love is an international service. Members you choose to connect with may be in other countries, and service providers may process information where their infrastructure or personnel are located. Those countries may have different privacy protections from your home country. We use contractual, access, and security measures appropriate to the provider and transfer, and remain responsible where applicable law requires it.

6. Retention and account deletion

We keep information while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, protect members, maintain security, meet accounting or legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Session and reset records expire or are revoked; operational backups may retain deleted information for a limited recovery cycle before rotation.

You can delete your account from the account controls. Deletion revokes sessions, removes the profile and stored profile-photo objects, clears direct identifiers, and changes the account to a deleted identity. Messages, reports, moderation records, subscription records, and audit events may be retained in de-identified or restricted form where needed for the rights and safety of others, fraud prevention, legal compliance, financial records, or dispute resolution. We may retain a record that an account was banned or deleted to prevent abuse.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Edit profile information and discovery preferences from your account.
  • Hide your profile from discovery.
  • Manage available email and in-app notification preferences.
  • Review and revoke active sessions.
  • Block members and submit confidential safety reports.
  • Delete your account through the authenticated account controls.
  • Ask us for access to or correction of personal information we hold.
  • Where applicable, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, or request a portable copy.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Rights can be limited where another person's privacy, safety, legal privilege, fraud prevention, or record-keeping law applies. We will explain a refusal where the law requires us to do so.

8. Security and data breaches

We use password hashing, opaque session tokens, restricted staff roles, private object storage, short-lived signed media links, encrypted stored service secrets, audit logging, rate limits, and transport encryption in production. No service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your password, revoke unfamiliar sessions, and contact us promptly if you suspect compromise.

If an eligible data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the relevant regulator as required, and provide practical steps to reduce harm.

9. Adults only

The service is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly permit children to create accounts. Report suspected underage use immediately; we may restrict the account while we investigate and remove information where appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, providers, or law changes. We will publish the revised version and effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide reasonable notice and seek consent where required.

11. Questions and complaints

Email support@slavic.love with “Privacy” in the subject line. Describe your request and the email linked to your account. We will acknowledge and investigate privacy complaints within a reasonable time.

If you are not satisfied, you may contact the privacy regulator where you live. In Australia, this is the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
